Publishing here feels like checking my irreplaceable jacket and bag into a cheap club’s coat check. I’ll probably get it back…but will I? Can I go? Why am I even here.

It looks like the new website doesn't support RSS. While I enjoy reading PI, I'm not sure I love it enough to get an app or start filling my inbox with it.

Thank you for the good times and recommendations, PI. I wish you luck with the new website.

I agree that this is a good move; Substack has become the new Blogger, riddled with menial content. Though, as a seasoned designer, I am puzzled by the choices made in the design of your app, it is nearly devoid of any adherence to design fundamentals. Fundamentals such as visual hierarchy, color, and composition exist because the guidance that shapes these principles has been proven repeatedly to aid comprehension and reduce cognitive load, amongst other benefits. What was the goal of making the app look the way it does?

There was a time when websites didn't all look the same and the Internet was far more diverse in layouts, colors, typefaces, etc. We wanted to build something expressive and colorful that didn't use rounded corners, 500 shades of grey, and design-choices built around data.

We worked with a great design agency, Special Offer (www.specialoffer.inc), that I knew would help us think outside the box here to create something that doesn't feel like anything else out there.
